TromboCare. The prevention you need to protect your future.

TromboCare is a genetic tool designed to identify hereditary predisposition to developing thrombosis, that is, the formation of clots in veins or arteries. This condition is directly related to serious diseases such as acute myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident (stroke), and venous thromboembolism. Early detection of this risk allows for preventive and personalized intervention that can make a great difference in long-term health.

The TromboCare test analyzes 15 genetic variants in 11 key genes of the coagulation system. These variants are associated with deficiencies in natural coagulation inhibitors and alterations in the synthesis of coagulation factors. Thanks to this high-precision technology (99%), it is possible to accurately know each person’s genetic profile and make informed decisions about their cardiovascular health.

Importance in gynecological and reproductive health

Hereditary thrombophilia has a significant impact on female reproductive health. It is estimated that around 30% of gynecological and obstetric complications—such as recurrent miscarriages or infertility—are linked to this condition. Furthermore, one in two women who develop venous thromboembolism (VTE) during pregnancy presents with blood clots. The risk also increases with the use of oral contraceptives or hormonal treatments, due to the cumulative effect of genetic and hormonal factors.

Clinical application and preventive treatment

TromboCare is a clinically validated genetic test with proven clinical relevance. Its results allow healthcare professionals to design personalized prevention and treatment strategies. In confirmed risk cases, treatment usually consists of oral anticoagulant therapy, which helps prevent the formation of new thrombi and control existing ones. This therapy must always be prescribed and supervised by a specialist.

It facilitates preventive measures, such as lifestyle adjustments and anticoagulant therapy, reducing the risk of familial complications.

  • Women with 2 or more miscarriages, intrauterine growth restriction, intrauterine fetal death, placental abruption, low implantation rates, and preeclampsia.

  • Women about to initiate contraceptive treatments or Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

  • Individuals without a history of VTE (Venous Thromboembolism), but exposed to risk factors (prolonged immobilization, major surgeries, muscle and vascular injuries, pregnancy, chronic diseases, advanced age, smoking, or obesity).

  • Individuals with a personal or family history of thrombotic events.

Process

To perform TromboCare, a blood sample obtained via venipuncture by a healthcare professional is required. The sample is stored in an EDTA tube and must be kept refrigerated until analysis. Results are delivered within 10 days from the arrival of the samples at the laboratory, along with a detailed report.

Recommendations

Once the risk is known, preventive therapy based on oral anticoagulants can be administered to block the formation of new thrombi and control existing ones. This treatment must be prescribed and supervised by a hematologist.

A useful tool for preventive medicine

Incorporating TromboCare as part of preventive medicine allows for the identification of individuals at risk before they develop symptoms or complications. Its use is especially recommended for individuals with a family history of thrombosis, women planning a pregnancy, patients with unexplained infertility, or individuals about to undergo prolonged hormonal treatments.
